Taxes Up In 2025 Lacey Municipal Budget

Expenses increasing across the board means that homeowners will see a higher property tax bill under the proposed budget.

The $41.8 million budget was introduced at a recent Township Committee meeting, with a public hearing and final vote set for April 24.

LACEY, NJ — Lacey homeowners can expect to pay more in property taxes in the upcoming year thanks to an increase in expenses, township officials said.

The $41.8 million budget was introduced at a recent Township Committee meeting, with a public hearing and final vote set for April 24.

Under the proposed budget, a homeowner with a home assessed at $300,000 would pay an additional $91 annually, or $7.50 a month, Municipal Clerk Amy Shelton said.

Appropriations, salaries, wages and more are up, which made this budget higher than last year's - that one also had a tax increase.

"If you're having the pain at home, we're having the pain at the township," said Chief Financial Officer Linda Picaro-Covello. "Everything's increased."

Things like health benefits and workers' comp are frequent factors in budgets increasing.

Picaro-Covello used a home assessed at $400,000 for the 3 cent tax rate. That homeowner would pay $121.37 more a year, or $10 a month, she said.

That's going to be in addition to the tax increase in store for the Lacey Township School District. Read more: Taxes Up In Proposed Lacey Schools Budget

The public hearing and vote is set for the April 24 meeting, which will be held at 3 p.m. due to a conflict in the evening for the committee members.
