Update On Lacey Police Department's 'No-Shave November'

Police officers, first aid squads and fire department members have already raised more than $5,000.

So far, putting down their razors has paid off.

Lacey police and Lacey emergency service personnel have raised more than $5,000 in their "No-Shave November" campaign to fight cancer, Police Chief Michael C. DiBella said.

They all pledged to stop shaving on Nov. 1, to raise cancer awareness and money for a number of cancer organizations.

"We are not even half-way through the month of November and with the inclusion of the above two donations we have already surpassed our overall goal of $5,000 to fight cancer," DiBella said before the Nov. 10 Township Committee meeting. "I am extremely honored by the amount of support we have received from our community."

The Old Guard of Forked River donated a $500 check, and the Lacey Township American Legion gave $500 at the meeting.

"I want to personally thank the members of these organizations for their gratitude and support," the chief said

Police and emergency service volunteers stopping shaving on Nov. 1. The campaign will end on Nov. 30.

Funds raised by the “Lacey Township Challenge” (Lacey Police and Emergency Services) will go to the American Cancer Society, Prevent Cancer Foundation, Fight Colorectal Cancer, and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Donations on behalf of the police officers and the township emergency services personnel should be made directly to No-Shave.org under the Lacey Township Challenge.
