VIDEO: Dolphins Cavort Alongside Point Beach Fishing Boat
Dolphins seem to have fun swimming next to Miss Michele III
It seemed to be just another day of out on the Miss Michele III just off Point Beach.
Until the dolphins showed up.
There they were, darting and dipping under and next to the bow of the charter fishing boat, as though they were having fun racing it.

And Ron Braen, the son of Captain Ron and Sally Braen, co-owners of the boat, videotaped the spirited marine mammals, including a calf. Watch the video for the moment where the young one swims over next to one of the adults.
Sally Braen, who was not on the boat that day, said that she and her family have seen bottlenose dolphins many times, but this is the first time any of them had seen dolphins that looked like these, with white underbellies and longer snouts.

When her husband and deck hand son told her about how they saw dolphins with white underbellies, she was intrigued.
"We didn't know what type of dolphins they were at first," she said. "But we looked it up and found out they're spinner dolphins."
The fishermen saw the dolphins last November and the younger Ron Braen recently posted the video to the Miss Michele III Facebook page.
"They were along the beach, not very far off at all," Sally Braen said. "Most of the time, that's where we see the bottlenoses."
That was a sweet moment for the captain, who is a lifelong fisherman and has been running the Miss Michele III charter fishing business with his wife since 1983.
The boat, docked behind Spike's Fish Market, 415 Broadway, is available for small or larger charter fishing trips, can carry up to 100 passengers and is 65 feet long with a 20-foot wide beam, says the company's website.
The Braens are longtime Brick residents. Ron Braen (the father) has been a Brick police officer for 30 years and works the K-9 unit and is also a fire commissioner in Brick's Laurelton Fire District 2.
Ron Braen, the owners' son, is studying engineering at a college in Florida.
As for Miss Michele III, she's setting out these days searching for stripers again. Hmmm, you never know.
Thanks to the Braen family for letting us post their video and to Marc Palazzolo at for tipping us off.
