Ben Franklin Math Carnival, Science Fair a Success

Environmental conservation was the focus of the event at the Lawrence Township elementary school.

On March 29, the held their second annual Math Carnival and Science Fair.

The night's program focused on environmental conservation, with students presenting posters or conducting experiments that focused on global or environmental issues.

The topic for all students was to "Take Care of Our Earth", with each child researching their topic of choice. Children have the opportunity to learn about a variety of environmental topics, all while learning scientific methods.

There was also a presentation by Allison Kohler, AmeriCorps New Jersey Watershed and Ambassador, and Rick Dutko of the Lawrence Nature Center. The children learned about the importance of watersheds and had an opportunity to observe native animals such as turtles, lizards, and birds.

The event was coordinated by Ben Franklin teachers: Mrs. Turner, Mrs. Muzi, and Mrs. Tunnard.
