Ben Franklin Students 'Jump Rope for Heart'

On Feb. 13, Ben Franklin Elementary School students participated in The Jump Rope for Heart program.  

This national event was first founded in 1978 by the American Heart Association and the American Alliance for Healthy Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (AAHPERD).

This life-saving educational program has provided millions of dollars to help individuals who are suffering with cardiovascular disease. The fundraising program encourages all participants to live heart healthy lives by eating well and engaging in physical activity.

The Ben Franklin students learned the importance of taking care of their own heart and felt good knowing that they had the ability to make a difference in someone's life.

The school raised approximately $2,000 with all proceeds going to the AHA.  A special thanks to Carlee Cimorelli, James Yates, and David Angebranndt, physical educators at Ben Franklin, who organized the event and kept the children energized.
