Counselors Association Awards Scholarships to Local Students
Three Lawrence High School students and one student from Notre Dame High School were among the recipients of the 17th Annual Scholarship Awards from the Mercer County Professional Counselors Association.

The 17th Annual Scholarship Awards for Mercer County Professional Counselors Association were presented at a breakfast reception held at Mercer County Community College on Friday, June 1.
Two different scholarships were presented to nine area students. Caring for Humanity is based on commitment to service in the community or at school. Meeting the Challenge scholarship acknowledges the work of students overcoming a learning or physical challenge.

Counselors from public and parochial high schools in Mercer County who are members of MCPCA presented their students with certificates acknowledging the recipients’ many accomplishments.
One recipient was instrumental in starting Relay for Life in her school district, one is an emergency medical technician (EMT) and volunteers on two rescue squads, one is an Eagle Scout, and another volunteers with her church youth group on home improvement tasks in impoverished areas.

All scholarship winners demonstrated outstanding academic success.

- Emily Haws, Steinert High School
- Heather Sandfort, Steinert High School
- Matthew Jensen, Steinert High School
- Ashley Gonzalez, Steinert High School
- Katelyn Becker, Steinert High School
