Discarded Cigarette Sparks Small Fire at McDonald's
A small area of mulch burned. No damage was sustained to the building.
Lawrence Township volunteer firefighters responded to the McDonald's near the Brunswick Traffic Circle shortly before 7 p.m. today (Wednesday, April 11) after a carelessly discarded cigarette ignited the mulch bed surrounding the menu board for the restaurant's drive-through lane.
Firefighters said an area of mulch about 5-feet wide burned. A McDonald's employee using a garden hose had extinguished much of the fire prior to the firefighters' arrival.
