Gordon Wolf Represents Lawrence at State Wrestling Tournament

The Lawrence High School junior took fifth place in his weight class at the tournament in Atlantic City.

Lawrence High School junior Gordon Wolf took fifth place in the 132-pound weight class at the New Jersey State Wrestling Tournament held in Atlantic City March 8-10.

He finished with 37 wins - a Lawrence High record for the most wins in a season.

Chris Lynne is the varsity wrestling coach and Jeff Verga is the JV coach.

Gordon earned a spot at the tournament by placing second in his weight category at the Region 5 Tournament held at Central Hunterdon High School on March 1-2

Gordon cinched his spot in Atlantic City by defeating Greg McCrystal of Bishop Ahr with a 5-1 decision that Friday evening. That Saturday he defeated Jelson Arias of Bound Brook with a 8-4 decision, then lost in the final round with a close 6-7 decision against Sean Glasgow of East Brunswick.

Lawrence High’s Michael Jennings, meanwhile, placed fourth in the qualifying tournament and was an alternate for the State Tournament.
