Mason Russo Selected for Boys State

Lawrence High School junior Mason Russo was selected by the local American Legion Post to participate in the Boys State Program for one week at Rider University this summer. As one of 850 delegates, Mason will learn about various aspects of the political process including: the political units of government and their function; the branches of government and their jurisdictions, and the functions of political parties and their role in the political process. Mason is active in various volunteer organizations, including community peer leadership programs and Special Olympics. He is also a member of the National Honor Society.Â

LMS Students Learn What Makes the Wheel Go 'Round
Students in Lawrence Middle School's Enrichment Challenge Program have been studying inventions and innovations of the United States World's Fairs and were introduced to mechanical engineering by constructing their own hand-powered Ferris Wheels. The eighth-graders were recently treated to a visit by two engineers from Princeton engineering firm URS. Engineers Tom Dudycz and Scott Bentivegna shared the skills needed by today's mechanical engineers and demonstrated additional ways the students could operate their Ferris Wheels using wind and steam power.

LHS Juniors Inducted into National Honor Society
Fifty members of the Class of 2013 were formally inducted into the Lawrence High School chapter of the National Honor Society on April 25. Click here for the list of students or view the copy of the induction ceremony program in the media box at the right.
To earn this recognition, students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.75 throughout high school. In addition, students must demonstrate the highest standards in the areas of leadership, service, and character. A council comprised of members of the high school faculty appointed by Upper School Principal Jon Dauber reviews all scholastically eligible students for membership.
Lawrence High School "Teacher of the Year" Evelyn Kay delivered the keynote address and emphasized the importance of striving for excellence in not only scholarship, but also leadership, character, and service. LHS social studies teacher Ann Hertzog is the faculty advisor for the LHS chapter.

LHS Brought Drama to West Chester University Theater Festival
The Lawrence High School Theater IV class recently attended the West Chester University Theater Festival, where they competed with five other high schools, including a gifted private school for theater. The Theater IV Class received Best Ensemble for their performance of the comedy "Going to School." The cast included: Walker Sayen, Jacob Martindell, Laura Walker, Vance Wallace, Emily Irizzary, Bryan Wilson, Juliana Long, Peppina Demeglio, Josh Dutko, DeAna Smith, and Chante Figures. In addition, Juliana Long received the award for Best Comedic Audition Monologue.

Lawrenceville Main Street Artists Network Offering Summer Classes for All Ages
Teacher members Brenda Gladwell, Ruthann Perry, Theresa Prashad, Leslie Siegel, and Tiffany Wilner will conduct classes from the end of May through August for the pre-school through 12-year-old set. Rick DiFalco, Sheila Norton, and Alice Kelly will do classes for adults in photography, watercolor, and ribbon craft.
