May 30: Candela’s, 11 vs. Miele, 6

Miele surrendered a 6-2 lead and fell to Candela's in the first round of the playoffs, 11-6. John Halligan led Miele, going 3-for-4 and scoring two runs, while Colby Davis went 2-for-2 with one RBI for Miele.

David Ferdetta has two hits and three runs scored for Candela's, while Matt Kildea and Miles Kron contributed two hits apiece and Pate Jessop provided a strong pitching performance.

 

June 2: Captain Paul’s, 10 vs. Borden Perlman Insurance, 7

Captain Paul's scored a come-from-behind playoff victory over Borden Perlman Insurance, earning them a spot in the Championship Game to be played on Saturday, June 9 at 11:00 a.m. Joseph Laitusis and Sebastian Centeno had key hits as Tristian Curbishley, Gianni Leonardo and Ryan McGann made key defensive plays.  Shaun Johnson and Aidan Kane shared pitching duties for most of the game, while Kevin Dalle Pazze secured the save by striking out the side in the sixth inning.

 

Boys Baseball National Division

 

June 2: Ace Topsoil, 12 vs. First Choice Bank, 3

In playoff action, Ace Topsoil (11-4) won its semifinal game against First Choice Bank (5-13) by a score of 8-2.  Ace Topsoil scored first with hits by seven of the first eight batters, highlighted by Finn Lillis' 2-run RBI double. First Choice limited further damage with an outstanding double play to end the first inning.  Lillis pitched four outstanding innings, giving up two runs on three hits, while striking out seven and walking two.

First Choice started a comeback in the fourth on consecutive hits by Tyler Hughes, Sean Hoffman and Logan Hillegas before the threat was snuffed out by Lillis with a strikout and popfly.  Ace Topsoil responded in the top of the fifth with consecutive doubles by Sean McGuire and Hans Lillis, followed by a walk to Evan Monfre.  Two batters later, Thomas McGlaughlin legged out a single to deep shortstop driving in two runs.  Evan Monfre came in for relief at the top of the fifth.  After giving up a single to Nathanial Perrucci to start the fifth, Monfre struck out the four of the next six batters to close out the game.

 

Girls Softball

 

June 2: Poulson and Van Hise, 9 vs. Sports Authority, 1

Erica Cawley led Poulson and Van Hise to a convincing 9-1 victory over Sports Authority. Cawley pitched a complete game, striking out 11 batters. Katie Smith helped provide the offense going 3-for-3 and scoring three times. Gianna Oakley also had three singles for Poulson.

Rita Thompson had three hits for Sports Authority, while Robin Seidman singled in the loss.
