Lawrence Students Deliver 'Crayons from the Heart'

Lawrence High School students delivered packages of crayons and coloring books to the pediatric department at Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell.

Students in the Lawrence High School Transition Class recently went on a career awareness trip to Capital Health Medical Center in Hopewell.

Prior to starting the facility tour to learn about different jobs available at Capital Health, students made a donation of 70 “Crayons from the Heart” packages to the nurse manager in the Pediatrics department.

Throughout the school year students collected crayons from LTPS schools, prepared the crayons for melting, melted them into new shapes and then assembled individual crayon packages.

In addition, the students prepared coloring books and assembled the completed packages of one “Crayons from the Heart” coloring book and eight fun-shaped crayons.

This was a year-long Community Service project funded by a grant.

Included in the photo above with the students is the Capital Health pediatric nurse manager.
