Citizens, Public Servants Honored By American Legion

Members of gathered recently to honor post members, citizens and public servants for their contributions to the community, and also to remember post members who died during the past year.

The Annual Awards Night and Post Everlasting ceremonies were held at the legion hall on Berwyn Place on April 13.

Honored with Appreciation Awards were:

Honored as Veteran of the Year was Robert Scheuerman, while former mayor and councilwoman Pam Mount was named Citizen of the Year.

Honored with Special Recognition Awards were:

• Lawrence Township Police Officer Edwin Podbielski
• Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Co. Past Chief Raymond Nagy
• Lawrence Road Volunteer Fire Co. Capt. Michael Byrd
• Slackwood Volunteer Fire Co. Past Chief Kenneth Johnson
• Lawrence Township Emergency Medical Service Chief Chrissie Vincent

During the event, Post 414 presented a check to the Sunshine Foundation to pay the cost of four seats for this year’s Operation Dreamlift, an annual event that flies over 100 chronically- and terminally-ill children to Florida for a day of fun at Disney World. This year’s Dreamlift will take place on May 8.
