Man Dies After Being Shot Inside Car In Mercer County

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are currently investigating.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A 25-year-old man died after he was shot inside his vehicle in Trenton on Thursday evening, Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey said.

Around 9:23 p.m. on Thursday, Trenton police were detailed to the area of Dayton and Grand streets on a Shot Spotter activation for multiple rounds.

Upon arrival, officers found a white Toyota 4Runner parked in the middle of the street in the 300 block of Dayton Street. Inside, officers discovered 25-year-old Wilmer Eliu Vidal Romero of Trenton in the driver’s seat bleeding excessively from an apparent gunshot wound., Marbrey said.

Officers rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived on scene. Romero was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead a short time later, Marbrey said.

The Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department are currently investigating the shooting.
