Man Walking Dog Struck And Killed In Mercer County
A 63-year-old Hamilton resident was killed but his dog was uninjured in the crash, police said.
MERCER COUNTY, NJ – A 63-year-old Hamilton man was struck and killed while walking his dog on Wednesday, police said.
On Wednesday, around 4:10 p.m., 2002 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van was traveling westbound on Hamilton Ave near the intersection with Donald Drive.
At the same time, Mohamed Ahmed, a 63-year-old male from Hamilton NJ was walking his dog on the westbound side of Hamilton Avenue.

According to police, Ahmed attempted to cross Hamilton Avenue by walking southbound from a mid-block location. While Ahmed was positioned in the westbound lane, he was struck by the mini-van.
He was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center via ambulance where he was declared dead, police said. The dog was not injured in the crash.

According to initial investigation, the traffic on Hamilton Avenue had the green light at the intersection with Donald Drive. Ahmed did not use the nearby crosswalk. The speed of the mini- van does not appear to be a contributing factor to the crash, police said. The investigation is on-going.
