Mercer Cops Use Drone Tech To Locate Missing Child In 10 Minutes

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Police departments across the state are using advanced technology to help them serve the community better. And in Robbinsville, a drone helped save the day.

The Robbinsville Police Department recently received a 911 call about a missing child. According to authorities, a child ran into a heavily wooded area and went missing.

The Robbinsville Police Department’s Drone Unit immediately got to work.

A certified drone operator along with a K9 from West Windsor Police Department were dispatched to the heavily wooded area.

With freezing temperatures and snow-covered woods, the task was a difficult one.

Soon, a drone with thermal imaging was airborne.

“Once the drone was airborne it was able to locate a thermal heat signature of a person in the heavily wooded area, in under 10 minutes,” the police department said.

The child was soon reunited with the family.
