NJ State Trooper Dies During Training In Mercer County
The death of Tpr. Marcellus E. Bethea, who was stationed out of Moorestown, is under investigation, authorities said.

MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Authorities are currently investigating the death of a state trooper during training.
Tpr. Marcellus E. Bethea died during training at State Police headquarters in Ewing, the agency announced Sunday night. Bethea served the agency for eight years, working out of the Moorestown station.
"His commitment and passion for serving the citizens of New Jersey exemplified Honor, Duty, and Fidelity," the state agency said.

While a student at Burlington Regional High School, Bethea participated in New Jersey State Police Trooper Youth Week. He became a trooper in 2016, graduating with NJSP's 156th training class.
No potential cause of death has been released. His death is currently under investigation, said Gov. Phil Murphy.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his fellow troopers at this difficult time," Murphy said.
Bethea's age was not immediately available.
Details on his viewing and funeral arrangements will be forthcoming, according to State Police.
