Ramos, Collins Thank Lawrence Voters For Support, Won't Seek Recount

"The cold hard reality is that our opponents ran a stronger campaign and won in the end."

To the Editor:

We’d like to thank our Lawrence Township neighbors who backed us throughout 2013 in our effort to bring balance to Town Council.

Our platform of lower taxes and leadership resonated with a populace that has had enough with referendums and back door taxes.  In a town in which our party is out-registered 2.2 to 1, two unknowns finished only 150 votes shy of winning two seats and 35 votes shy of winning one seat (less than 3 percent and 1percent of the vote, respectively). Clearly there were voters of all parties who saw enough in us to give us their vote and for that, we thank them.

The cold hard reality is that our opponents ran a stronger campaign and won in the end. Glenn and I will continue to serve Lawrence Township on the Planning, Recreation, and Growth & Redevelopment boards and committees and we will continue to advocate for the taxpayer and the small business owner.

We’d like to close by giving our sincere gratitude to our friends and neighbors who supported us, and our families for their unwavering support and love through the hard work of campaigning.  Finally we wish only the best for our elected representatives, and our public safety and township personnel, and thank them for their dedication to our community.
