Residents May Hear Loud Noises This Weekend During Military Training

Residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and may experience possible ground shaking due to the training.

Two units are scheduled to conduct mortar and artillery-firing training at the Dix ranges between May 4-5 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

According to a notification from West Windsor Police, the training units include the 1st Squadron, 102nd Cavalry (reconnaissance, surveillance and target acquisition); New Jersey Army National Guard from Westfield; and the Golf Battery 3rd Battalion, 13th Marine Regiment based out of Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

Residents may hear more noise than usual coming from the ranges and may experience possible ground shaking due to the training. Noise from the ranges may travel farther during overcast weather conditions.

Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst works hard to minimize the impact training has on its surrounding communities and is committed to remaining good neighbors.
