Keegan, who has worked in the healthcare industry for 18 years, is the administrator at the 200-bed community that opened last January. Merwick, the first facility in the new healthcare complex off Route 1, provides the full range of complex medical and rehabilitative sub-acute services as well as nursing home care.
“At Merwick, we see ourselves as a bridge between hospital and home. This means we need to educate patients on best practices and latest innovations so they can properly take care of themselves as they prepare to return home after a stay in our short-term care center. The information is also important to other seniors living on their own,” Keegan said.

“Recent innovations can help people prevent injury or illness that could lead to hospitalization, and if something does happen, knowledge can prepare them to respond in the best possible way.”
Technological advances to be discussed include insulin pens for diabetic patients which can automate the insulin dosing for accuracy and ease of use without a doctor present and telemonitoring systems which digitally send results from tests taken at home to the physician monitoring the patient remotely.
Merwick is the newest addition to the Windsor Healthcare family of communities which consists of 10 care and rehabilitation facilities throughout New Jersey.
