Terhune Orchards invites you to enjoy a weekend of family fun at our popular Kite Day weekend on May 5 and 6.

Kite Day is a perfect time to explore the farm and celebrate spring, one of the most beautiful and exciting seasons on the farm when all is ready for the bountiful growing season.  Apple and peach orchards are growing fruit, fields are plowed, crops are planted – so let’s celebrate!  Join us for a high-flying, tail-crackling, wind-snapping day of great fun for everyone.

Bring your own kite or choose a ready-made kite from the wide selection available in our farm store.  Or better yet, make a “guaranteed to fly” kite.  Whichever you choose, test fly your kite in our 10-acre pasture as the farm animals look on.

The whole family can tour the orchards and fields while riding in a tractor-drawn farm wagon.  Walk along the farm trail, a one-mile gravel walk, past the big pond, pasture, and across the back meadow and through the pines and woodlands, or ride a pony through the apple orchards.

Everyone gets hungry after flying kites and we will be serving a fun meal of barbecued chicken and pork, hot dogs, vegetarian chili, pie, cider, doughnuts, apples, soups, salads, cookies, fresh green salad, and fresh-grilled asparagus grown here at Terhune Orchards.

Sunday watch our sheep being shorn by Joel Markevey at 2 p.m. and take home a piece of real wool.  The sheep are delighted to take off their winter coats!

There will be live, foot stomping, country music each day from 12pm-4pm. Saturday’s band is John & Carm, Sunday will be Riverside.

Don’t forget, the farm store will be open for fruits and veggies, and we have everything you need to start your herb garden and spruce up your garden with flowers and hanging baskets and more.

Admission to Kite Day is free. The event will be held rain or shine. Plenty of parking is available at the farm, which is located at 330 Cold Soil Rd. in Lawrence Township.
