Terhune Orchards to Host Classes on Healthy Eating

Pam and Gary Mount, owners of Terhune Orchards, are pleased to announce a new summer class series at the farm to help promote healthy eating.

“My canning classes have been so successful and over the last few years, and more and more people have been asking us questions about healthy eating and using and preserving fruits and vegetables,” Pam Mount said of the decision to create the new program. “Our teachers for the summer series are both experts and great resources, and we are looking forward to their engaging and informative talks.”

Healthy eating habits can be learned and put in to practice in simple ways. Judith Robinson will demystify the process in a four-week series in July called “Healthy Eating: What Is It and How To Do It.”

Robinson had her first organic garden in 1974 and has been researching and teaching about healthy eating habits and organic growing techniques ever since.  She is the manager and co-developer of the Princeton Farmers Market and has her own company called Our World, Our Choice.

Each week, Robinson will focus on just harvested fruits and vegetables and the many ways to include them in a diet in order to create new eating habits.

Classes will be held Saturdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on July 7, 14, 21, and 28. The fee is $20 per class. Register by calling (609) 356-0558.

Food expert and cookbook author Kim Rizk, owner of Jammin Crepes, will teach two free sessions for the series “Everything about Preserving the Bounty of the Farm.” Rizk, a certified master food preserver, will share her expertise and knowledge about preserving fruit and vegetables at the height of the season. 

On Sunday, July 15 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. she will discuss “Everything Blueberry.”
