Car Stolen In Little Silver Crashes, Burns On Parkway

A car stolen from Little Silver crashed and caught fire on the Garden State Parkway northbound Friday morning, said State Police.

LITTLE SILVER, NJ — A car stolen from Little Silver crashed and caught fire on the Garden State Parkway northbound Friday morning, according to the New Jersey State Police.

State Police troopers found the car when it was already on fire at milepost 116.8 in the Holmdel area at around 11:53 a.m. Friday.

The car had been abandoned and there was no one close to it, police said. No arrests were made in the incident.

State Police did not say what street in Little Silver the car was stolen from.

Monmouth County is a magnet for car thieves, and luxury cars are often stolen right from their owners' driveways, where they are often left unlocked. More than 180 luxury cars were stolen from Monmouth County driveways in 2021, according to News 12 New Jersey, an increase of 64 percent from 2020. Monmouth County now has the third highest luxury vehicle theft in the state of New Jersey.
