Take A Guided Walk On Sandy Hook On New Year's Day

On the first day of every year, American Littoral Society hosts a group walk along the windswept beaches and dunes of Sandy Hook.

HIGHLANDS, NJ — Join American Littoral Society for their annual New Year's Day walk on Sandy Hook.

On the first day of every year, American Littoral Society hosts a group walk along the windswept beaches and dunes of Sandy Hook. Dress for the weather! This year's walk is special, because 2025 is the 50th year the group will host the walk.

The walk will be from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Jan. 1. Meet at the Littoral Society headquarters (Building 18 in the Fort Hancock Section of Gateway National Recreation Area).

Says the group:

"We will walk to the northern tip of Sandy Hook (a little over two miles on roads, trails and sand). Hot dogs and hot chocolate will be served after the walk."

Once they get to the tip of Sandy Hook, they will try to signal across New York bight to another American Littoral Society walking group in the Jamaica Bay national wildlife refuge in Queens. If you'd like to participate, you are asked to RSVP here: https://www.littoralsociety.or...
