LITTLE SILVER, NJ — The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners praised the tiny town of Little Silver for two shared services agreements the town has with the county:

Little Silver 9-1-1 calls are routed to the county, and the county also runs the Shrewsbury River Flood Warning System.

Since 2014, the Monmouth County 9-1-1 Communications Center distributes all emergency calls to Little Silver. That means that if you call 911 in Little Silver, your call will go to a call center staffed by the county, run by Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden.

Golden said 911 callers will still get fast result times in Little Silver, and Little Silver residents can benefit from the county's state-of-the-art 9-1-1 technology.

And the Shrewsbury River Flood Warning System, administered through Monmouth County OEM, allows towns to have a better knowledge of potential flooding risks.

“The Shrewsbury River Flood Warning System delivers advanced notice of changes in water levels and provides awareness of conditions that can lead to potential flooding,” said Commissioner Director Tom Arnone. “By utilizing this system, Little Silver is able to develop an action plan quickly if an emergency arises due to flooding.”

Said Little Silver Mayor Robert Neff:

“Little Silver has had a long, beneficial partnership with Monmouth County in so many ways, for which we’re very grateful. Importantly, the County Office of Shared Services programs help keep us safe, like the backup dispatch service, and the Shrewsbury River flood alert system. Both are indispensable to the safety of our residents in an emergency, as I remember well from Superstorm Sandy and other severe storms," said Neff.

“The Shared Services team and I are always available to help municipal officials get started or to answer any questions they may have, so contact us by calling 732-431-7460 or emailing us at sharedservices@co.monmouth.nj.us,” said Director Arnone.
