Meet the Stars Dancing at EFLS Event

Find out who the seven brave couples are who've agreed to compete in the upcoming Dancing With the Stars event and raise money to fund the district's technology initiatives.

They're parents with kids in both Markham and Point Road, plus a sixth grade math teacher and a guidance counselor. But on Friday, March 8, they will all be contestants in the Education Foundation of Little Silver's "Dancing With the Stars" fundraiser.

Find out who they are, what type of dance gets their groove on and just how they got talked into doing this:

Couple #1: Carolyn and Eric Wasserfall

Favorite dance? Carolyn loves to hustle as she is a dancing queen. Eric loves Spanish Music especially the Merengue. We both love the Tango!
Wedding song? “Never My Love” by the 5th Dimension
Why are you doing this? We are doing this because we love to entertain our friends and our dancing keeps them laughing! We believe in the EFLS and all the technology they have provided our children over the years so much that we are willing to humiliate ourselves to the community!

Couple #2: Kara and Jamie Raymond

Find out what's happening in Little Silver-Oceanportfor free with the latest updates from Patch.

Favorite dance? Kara: Hip‐hop and jazz. Jamie: Rhythm‐less freestyle.
Wedding song? "That's how strong my love is" by Otis Redding
Why are we doing this? We were told we had no choice ... and of course for the good of the children.

Couple #3: Bill and Lori Lopez

Favorite dance? Definitely the Salsa!
Wedding song? No wedding dance ... DJ malfunction, but we've had almost 11 years of great dance parties to make up for it!
Why are you doing this? The "daddy‐daughter" dance inspired Bill to take it to "the next level.”

Couple #4: Tabitha and Joe Pia

Favorite dance? I like Latin, jazz and hip hop while Joe enjoys WATCHING hip hop! Wedding song? “If You Say My Eyes Are Beautiful” by Whitney Houston
Why are you doing this? It is always acceptable to make a fool of yourself for a great cause!

Couple #5: Jennifer and John Borenius

Favorite dance? Jen: Mine is anything and everything. John: Rarely or never.
Wedding song? “Can’t Get Enough of Your Love” by Barry White
Why are you doing this? We are doing this because you only live once ... and I thought it would be fun. John is married to me and just surrendered after countless hours of asking!

Couple #6: Kristen (6th Grade Math Teacher) and Greg Galante

Favorite dance? My favorite dance is the Salsa; Greg's favorite is the Rumba.
Wedding song? "I Could Not Ask For More" by Edwin McCain
Why are you doing this? We're happy to dance the night away in support of the EFLS and their contributions to the Little Silver School District!

Couple #7: Julie Ford (Point Road Counselor) and Partner

Favorite Dance? I love to dance to all Latin styles especially Salsa!
Wedding Song? At my "pretend wedding" when I was 2, I danced to Surfin' USA by the Beach Boys. Why are you doing this? I have been quietly (not so much) holding back the star quality of dancing that I have and it is time for it to be unleashed!
