Little Silver 5K to be Run This Weekend

The race will begin in front of Red Bank Regional High School on Oct. 6.

The 20th annual Little Silver 5K, 1-mile fun run and kiddie dashes are set to return this weekend.

The event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 6, kicking off with the 1-mile fun run at 8:45 a.m. in front of Red Bank Regional High School. The 5K will begin at 9:20 a.m.

The event has grown over the years this event to the point where over 700 runners are expected to participate. 

There will be road closures along the race course for about an hour, starting at 9:10 a.m.

All roadways along the route will be closed at approximately 9:10 a.m. and will remain closed for the duration of the event, approximately 1 hour.

The race will start on Ridge Road and the runners will travel west towards Red Bank. They will then turn left (south) onto Prospect Ave., left (east) onto Rumson Road, left (north) onto Hance Road and left (west) onto Ridge Road. They will make a final left turn into the Red Bank Regional High School.

Immediately following the event the post race party will be held at the Little Silver Firehouse. The Little Silver PTO and Little Silver Fire Department will co-host the event and any money raised during it will be split by both organizations.

The PTO is looking raise additional money to build a fitness playground at the Markham Place Middle School. The playground would have pull-up bars, horizontal bars, boxes to jump on, a dip station and a sit up station. It would be open to the coaches and teachers as well as the community.
