No Plastic Bags Allowed In Little Silver Recycling

Recyclables must be placed loose in recycling containers, without plastic bags

LITTLE SILVER, NJ Next time you're getting ready to put out your recyclables, make sure you don't put any plastic bags in the container.

If you do, you could end up costing the borough money.

"If plastic bags are found in any recycling load taken to the County site for disposal, the entire recycling load will be rejected at significant cost to the Borough," the borough website states.

The new requirement also applies to dumpsters and any items that are dropped off at the public works yard,

Plastic bags cause delays and jams of the sorting machines during processing, the website states.

"If plastic bags continue to appear in the dumpsters at the Public Works yard the borough may be forced to close the recycling area Monday thru Friday, leaving only Saturday hours available, along with your regularly scheduled curbside pickup," according to the website.
