Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Train Identified as Union Beach Man
A pedestrian struck and killed Tuesday near the Hazlet train station has been identified as a 69-year-old Union Beach man.

New Jersey Transit has identified the pedestrian killed on Tuesday by the Hazlet train station as a 69-year-old Union Beach man.
David Metz has been named as the victim of the accident after his family was notified, pending a NJ Transit police investigation.
Metz was struck by a New York-bound North Jersey Coastline train at approximately 5:25 a.m., November 4, near Bethany Road in Hazlet. There were approximately 125 customers and crew on board the train at the time, according to NJ Transit officials. There were no other reported injuries.

Rail service was suspended for the North Jersey Coastline in both directions for two hours between Red Bank and Aberdeen-Matawan while the investigation took place.
The circumstances leading up to the fatal accident have not been confirmed, and an investigation is ongoing, according to NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder.
