3 Town-Owned Properties In Livingston May Have A New Future Soon
A public workshop will discuss concept plans for the three properties: Orchard Hill, Licari, and Strahman I and II.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston officials will hold a public workshop to discuss concept plans for three municipally owned properties on Monday, Dec. 1.
The information session will discuss plans for the Orchard Hill, Licari, and Strahman I and II sites. It will take place at 7 p.m. in the council chambers at Town Hall, 357 South Livingston Avenue. The workshop will also be livestreamed on the township’s Facebook page.
“Input will help refine the concepts and guide final decisions to ensure these spaces reflect the needs and priorities of Livingston residents and the surrounding community,” township officials said.

Residents can fill out the Livingston Open Space & Recreation Survey here. The survey displays multiple concept plans for the three sites. The township developed these plans with T&M Associates based on feedback from previous public information sessions.
The properties were purchased with funds from the township’s Open Space Trust Fund and/or the New Jersey Green Acres Program.

Here are some preliminary details about the three sites:
The Orchard Hill site is located at 244 Hillside Avenue and contains a total area of approximately 2.92 acres. Purchased by the township in 2007, the site was originally a farm and orchard dating back to the days of the American Revolution.

The Licari site is located at 240 East Northfield Road and contains a total area of approximately 9.93 acres. It was once the site of the Evergreen Miniature Horse Farm and features rolling hills, white-fenced stables, and picturesque red barns. The township purchased the site in 2019.

The Strahman I and II sites are located at 321 East Cedar Street and 323 East Street, respectively. Strahman I and II contain an area of 8.42 and 5.97 acres, respectively, for a combined total of 14.39 acres. The township purchased Strahman I in 2021. The Strahman II site is currently privately owned and pending acquisition by township.
