UPDATE: Livingston Mayor Rieber Unseated, Fernandez, Meinhardt, and Klein Win Open Council Seats
Councilman Rudy Fernandez and Democrat newcomers Edward Meinhardt and Shawn Klein have won the three open Livingston Council seats.

With more than 96 percent of the votes counted in Livingston, the Essex County Clerk is reporting that the three open Council seats have been won by Councilman Rudy Fernandez and Democrat newcomers Edward Meinhardt and Shawn Klein.
Livingston Mayor Michael Rieber lost his seat to Meinhardt by just 27 votes. With 18 percent of the vote, Councilman Fernandez gained the most votes followed by Shawn Klein who scored 17.46 percent, and Edward Meinhardt, who had 16.65 percent of the vote.
The Livingston Board of Education elections saw Ronnie Ferber Konner win a 1-year unexpired term, while Ronnie Spring gained a 2-year unexpired term and Charles Buddy August one a 3-year term.

Seven will battle it out for three open town council seats at tomorrow’s general election. Livingston Mayor Michael Rieber (R), Councilman Rudy Fernandez (D), and Councilwoman Deborah Shapiro (I) will be defending their seats against four newcomers to local government.

Democrats Edward Meinhardt and Shawn Klein and Republicans Peter Boockvar and Kenneth Merber are hoping to unseat the current administration in tomorrow’s race.
Board of Education elections will also be held tomorrow. Barry Funt and Charles Buddy August will fight for one open seat on the BOE that carries a three-year term.
