LIVINGSTON, NJ — The Livingston Health Department is offering a free Blood Pressure Screening for Livingston residents on Tuesday, Nov. 25 from 10 a.m. to noon. The screening will be held at the Livingston Senior/Community Center (first floor), 204 Hillside Avenue.
According to local health officials, high blood pressure is known as “the silent killer” because it has no symptoms of its own, but it can dramatically increase one’s risk of developing heart disease or stroke. Many people with high blood pressure don’t even know they have it; the signs and symptoms are often misunderstood. High blood pressure can be managed effectively though lifestyle changes and, when necessary, medication.
This service is free of charge to Livingston residents. Appointments and walk-ins are welcome. To make an appointment, contact the Nursing/Health Education Division at 973-535-7961 ext. #7109, #7108, or #7110.
