While traveling home from Hoboken late Sunday night, Ivan Tukhtin, 24, discovered a driver on the side of the road who had inexplicably blocked the Newark Bay Extension of the New Jersey Turnpike with traffic cones.
The strange interaction that occurred next was caught on tape by Tukhtin’s dashboard camera. You can watch the whole scene in the video below.
According to reports by NJ.com, upon spotting the car pulled to the side of the road, Tukhtin stopped at the cones as a man approached his passenger side door.

The video from the dash camera shows the 24-year-old driver asking the man if he needed help, but as the stranded driver begins to speak, Tukhtin drives straight through the cones and takes off into the night.
Tukhtin told NJ Advanced Media that although he “felt very calm” and the other man was not threatening, he called the police after leaving the scene.

State Police spokeswoman Alina Spies told NJ.com that after responding to the scene, state troopers discovered that the car on the side of the road was out of gas.
Kareem Walston, 37, of West Orange, the driver of the incapacitated vehicle, was charged with driving under the influence. Hashen Clark, 36, also in the vehicle, was charged with hindering. Clark also had a warrant out for his arrest in Hudson County, Spies told NJ.com.
State Police Capt. Stephen Jones told NJ.com that by using traffic cones to block the highway extension, Walston and Clark were “trying to get help in an inappropriate and dangerous way.”
The incident is still under investigation. Spies added that further charges are possible.
