Labor Day 2025 In Livingston: Closures, Garbage, Recycling

Livingston Town Hall and all township offices will be closed for Labor Day. Here are some other holiday reminders from the township.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston Town Hall and all township offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 1 for Labor Day. All offices will reopen during regular business hours on Tuesday, Sept 2.

GARBAGE

Garbage will not be collected on Monday, Sept. 1 for Monday/Thursday streets. Garbage will be collected on your next regularly scheduled day, which is Thursday, Sept. 4.

RECYCLING

There will be no regular commingled recycling pickup on Monday, Sept. 1, and collection will move one day later for the rest of the week:

  • Monday, Zone 1, September 1: No pickup; recycling will instead be picked up on Tuesday, September 2
  • Tuesday, Zone 2, September 2: Pickup moves to Wednesday, September 3
  • Wednesday, Zone 3, September 3: Pickup moves to Thursday, September 4
  • Thursday, Zone 4, September 4: Pickup moves to Friday, September 5
  • Friday, Zone 5, September 5: Pickup moves to Saturday, September 6

METAL RECYCLING

There will be no metal recycling pickup on Friday, Aug. 29.

Metal recycling pickup will resume on Friday, Sept. 5. Register by noon on Thursday, Sept. 4.

The metal pickup request form will not be available the week of Aug. 25 through Aug. 29. Register online for metal pickup starting on Tuesday, Sept. 2 at livingstonnj.org/MetalRequest
