Livingston Grocery Store Expands Kosher Market, Hosts Ribbon Cutting
The redesigned market is now one of the "most comprehensive kosher destinations in the area," the store says.
LIVINGSTON, NJ — Village Super Market recently celebrated the opening of a newly expanded Kosher Market at the ShopRite of Livingston.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the supermarket on Thursday, with appearances from members of the Sumas family, store management and Rabbi Teichman from the Vaad of MetroWest.
The Livingston Kosher Market is now one of the “most comprehensive kosher destinations in the area,” with product variety increased by more than 50 percent, according to a news release from Wakefern Food Corp.

Some highlights include:
- Kosher Grocery (Aisle 16): The grocery aisle has more than doubled in size — from 65 feet to over 150 feet — giving customers 53% more choices. The selection has grown from 800 items to more than 1,500.
- Kosher Frozen (Aisle 15): All frozen favorites are now located in one spot, including blintzes, gefilte fish, matzo ball soup, kosher pizzas, snacks and desserts.
- Kosher Meat: Customers can choose from over 30 varieties of freshly cut beef, lamb and veal, prepared daily by in-store butchers. Special requests are welcome —briskets, ribs and turkeys can be custom cut.
- Kosher Dairy: The dairy section now features more than 80 new items, including cheeses, herrings, spreads and desserts, all meeting kosher standards.
- Kosher Deli & Prepared Foods: Shoppers will find over 100 freshly made items, such as pulled kosher rotisserie chicken and Gabila’s famous knishes. Traditional favorites like matzo ball soup and kugel are also available from the store’s Shuk Kosher Kitchen. There are 10 varieties of freshly rolled sushi available daily.
- Kosher Seafood: Premium, certified selections including Faroe Island salmon and Atlantic flounder
- Kosher Catering: Available from the store’s Shuk Kosher Kitchen for special events as well as all occasion options
