Memorial Day 2025 In Livingston: Parade, Closures, Garbage/Recycling

A commemorative ceremony honoring fallen soldiers will take place in Livingston for the holiday.

LIVINGSTON, NJ — Livingston will commemorate Memorial Day with a parade and ceremony on Monday, May 26.

A commemorative ceremony honoring those who have died defending the United States will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Memorial Oval. This will be followed by the parade at 10 a.m.

In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Livingston High School auditorium, town officials said.

TOWN CLOSURES

Livingston Town Hall and all township offices will be closed on Monday, May 26 for Memorial Day. All offices will reopen during regular business hours on Tuesday, May 27.

GARBAGE/RECYCLING

Garbage will not be collected on Monday, May 26 for Monday/Thursday streets. Garbage will be collected on residents’ next regularly scheduled day, which is Thursday, May 29.

There will be no regular mixed paper recycling pickup on Monday, May 26, and collection will move one day later for the rest of the week:

  • Monday, Zone 1, May 26: No pickup; recycling will instead be picked up on Tuesday, May 27
  • Tuesday, Zone 2, May 27: Pickup moves to Wednesday, May 28
  • Wednesday, Zone 3, May 28: Pickup moves to Thursday, May 29
  • Thursday, Zone 4, May 29: Pickup moves to Friday, May 30
  • Friday, Zone 5, May 30: Pickup moves to Saturday, May 31

METAL RECYCLING

There will be no metal recycling pickup on Friday, May 23.

Metal recycling pickup will resume on Friday, May 30; register by noon on Thursday, May 29.

Town officials reminded residents that the metal pickup request form will not be available the week of May 19 through May 23. Register online for metal pickup starting on Tuesday, May 27 at livingstonnj.org/MetalRequest
