• Livingston's 2026 National Merit Semifinalists Honor Most Inspiring K-12 Educators (tapinto.net) — Livingston High School recently honored 17 National Merit Semifinalists and the K-12 educators they named as most inspiring during the final Livingston Board of Education meeting of the year. Students presented each teacher with a personally chosen book and now move on in the 2026 National Merit competition, where most semifinalists are expected to become finalists and potentially earn scholarships next year.
   

• West Essex YMCA Leaders and Supporters Sign Final Steel Beam for New Livingston Facility (tapinto.net) — A new 54,000-square-foot West Essex YMCA is rising at 304 S. Livingston Avenue, more than doubling the size of the current facility and slated to open in late 2026. Local officials, donors, and YMCA leaders recently signed the final steel beam, celebrating a project that will add expanded fitness space, two pools, child watch, a community kitchen, and more parking for Livingston-area families.
   

• N.J. man intentionally set house fire that killed 82-year-old neighbor, cops say (nj.com subscription) — A severely burned victim from a deadly Fanwood house fire was treated at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston after a July blaze that killed an 82-year-old woman. Prosecutors now say a 71-year-old neighbor intentionally set the fire and have charged him with murder, felony murder, burglary, and aggravated arson following a months-long investigation.
