Livingston Mayor Edward Meinhardt was on hand to greet the walkers before the 3k walk and congratulate Let’s Save Ma’s founder and breast cancer survivor Dr. Deval Gadhvi and Dr. Sangeeta Nayak, Sanskriti of New Jersey on bringing together families and the younger generation to raise awareness of breast cancer and the need for early detection.
Let’s Save Ma believes the younger generation are the best messengers to help inform and encourage their mothers and other women in their lives to understand the risk factors associated with breast cancer and the need to get screened.

Several students from Livingston High School and Newark Academy participated in the walk and led an interactive pledge with the crowd asking attendees to spread the word to other women and encourage women to get their mammogram. “Breast cancer is not a death sentence if diagnosed early, the most important thing we can do is spread the word and encourage women to get screened. Early detection can save lives,” said Gadhvi.
The inaugural walk is just one of many outreach events planned for this year. Let’s Save Ma is also working with local organizations to provide messaging to schools and community groups to help educate and inform the younger generation.
Sponsors of the walk event included Sanskriti of New Jersey, The Heart Center of the Oranges and the Township of Livingston.
