LIVINGSTON, NJ — An automated license plate reader recently helped to recover a stolen plate in Livingston, authorities reported Tuesday.
The Livingston Police Department released the following details about the incident:
“On Aug. 6 at 10 a.m., Livingston officers were alerted that a stolen license plate had entered the township via a license plate reader on the north side of town. The license plate was reported stolen out of New York City and belonged on a Ford vehicle, but the suspect vehicle had the license plate on a Nissan Rogue. Livingston officers located and stopped the suspect vehicle.”
Livingston police arrested the driver, a 59-year-old resident of the Bronx, NY, who said that she found the license plate on the ground and put it on her vehicle. She was issued multiple motor vehicle violations and a summons for theft of moveable property, and released on her own recognizance pending a future court date, authorities said.
