Teaching4Charity Continues This Summer

The educational nonprofit offers intriguing student-lead courses in science, arts, mathematics, and many other disciplines.

Press release from Teaching4Charity:

June 29, 2022

Only a summer ago, a group of Livingston students launched Teaching4Charity: an educational nonprofit offering intriguing student-lead courses in science, arts, mathematics, and many other disciplines. They raised a total of $4,600, all of which was donated to charities based in Uganda and Cambodia. In partnership with Uganda-based Wings of Dreams, the money provided a local study center with new computers, computer mouses, books and reading material, instructors, and a student support system. In Cambodia, the money provided a local boys soccer team with new uniforms.

Buoyed by their success and more committed than ever to providing educational opportunities for children both locally and abroad, Teaching4Charity is thrilled to continue this summer and donate to those same charities. With newfound experience and the addition of Chinese, chess, volleyball, and arts and crafts, there is a course for every student looking to explore current passions or develop new interests. The highly accomplished, dedicated Teaching4Charity team has created comprehensive curriculums for introductory classes that are both engaging and unique.

Daniel Liang, William Wang, and Olivia Mei will be teaching competition math; Jonathan Hong and Richard Zhang teaching public speaking; Tyler Ferreira and Sean Qin providing instruction in coding games; Hannah He and Celina Jia teaching English; Alex Wu and Naomi Wei teaching Chinese; Sophie Kim and Grace Wang providing lessons in digital art; Isabelle Mao and Grace Wang teaching arts and crafts, Daniel Liang and Samuel Jiang offering guidance in science; David Wang and Max Lu coaching volleyball; and George Cui, Matt Ge, and Eric Guo leading chess.

The team will be offering the courses during a two-week period from mid-July to the end of the month, with each individual course one week long at a designated time each day. That way, students can sign up for as many classes as they would like without overlapping schedules and plan their summers accordingly. The team will also be offering sessions throughout the month of August, primarily in the evening.

Teaching4Charity thanks the Livingston community for a wonderful summer last year, and hopes for one just as great this summer.
