NORTH NJ — Best-selling author Harlan Coben, a Livingston native, is no stranger to success. But now he can add his young adult book series to his roster of accomplishments, as well as an Amazon TV series that's filming in New Jersey based on the books.

The series is called "Shelter," based on Coben's series of the same name.

The books follow the adventures of Mickey, a boy who starts at a new school in New Jersey after his single mom enters rehab. He gets help from a classmate and a mysterious old lady.

The crew was set up around Anthony David's restaurant in Hoboken on Thursday, a block from the mile-square city's main drag of Washington Street. (The new signs in the window saying "For Lease" are just for the film; the restaurant is going strong.)

But a pilot episode was filmed in Livingston last year, according to TapInto.

The school in the show will be known in the series as Kasselton High School, like in the book, and some scenes were filmed at and near Livingston High School.

The state's film commission says that the show will be filming in New Jersey through November, but only lists Kearny, another Hudson County town, as a location.
