Young Minds Big Ideas to raise $10,000 for Youth Innovators

YMBI Innovator Fund has raised $7K for this week's Shark Tank event, with grants expected to push total funding to $10K

NJ — This week, Young Minds Big Ideas (YMBI), a student-led nonprofit dedicated to youth-driven innovation, is set to host its annual Shark Tank-style competition—an event that has quickly become one of New Jersey’s most anticipated showcases for student entrepreneurship.

With over $7,000 already raised and additional grants expected to bring the total to $10,000, the event is powered by an impressive network of local sponsors and community partners. Leading the way is Sonny’s Kitchen, the competition’s main sponsor, whose generous support and commitment to youth empowerment have helped bring the student-led vision to life.

Founded by high school junior Ruhaan Munjuluri, who serves as Executive Director, Young Minds Big Ideas empowers students to design and implement real-world solutions to community challenges through innovation, leadership, and civic action.

Munjuluri is supported by a dedicated leadership team, including Olivia Liu (Executive Director of Media), Scott K. (Chapter Management), Brody Kwiat and Jack Klein (Judge and Operations Managers), Kate Marcus (Chapter Management) and more. Together, they have shaped the Shark Tank competition into a platform where student ideas are not only heard—but brought to life.

“Our goal is to create a platform where students don’t just imagine change—they begin building it,” said Munjuluri. “This event reflects what’s possible when young people are given the tools, support, and belief that their ideas matter.”

The growing list of sponsors reflects a community-wide commitment to that mission. Organizations and businesses including Best Brains, Family Healing Center, Family Wellness Center, VoxRush, C2 Education, Turano’s, Franco’s, Rachna Maheshwari, Durkan Fencing, First Choice Prep, and Love Letters have contributed in various capacities—ranging from financial support and educational resources to food donations and curated gift baskets for participants.

From First Choice Prep’s academic backing to Love Letters’ thoughtful event gifts, every contribution has helped elevate the experience for the over 100 expected attendees—students, educators, professionals, and community leaders alike.

As the YMBI Innovator Fund approaches its $10,000 milestone, it’s clear that this competition is more than a pitch event—it’s a launchpad for the next generation of changemakers. With continued support from the Livingston community and beyond, Young Minds Big Ideas is shaping a future where student-led innovation drives real, lasting impact.
