3 Rescued From Boat Sinking Off Jersey Shore This Weekend
A Coast Guard rescue swimmer who was lowered from a helicopter helped the trio aboard a lifeboat.
LONG BRANCH, NJ — Three people were rescued from the New York/New Jersey Bight Sunday morning.
The trio were on a boat about three miles east of the Long Branch beach around 9:14 a.m., when the vessel began taking on water, the U.S. Coast Guard District 5 said in a news release.
A 47-foot motor lifeboat from the Coast Guard Station Manasquan Inlet was sent to the scene with an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter that was diverted from training at the Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City, the news release said.

A rescue swimmer was lowered from the helicopter to help all three people get on board the lifeboat. The lifeboat took them to the Shark River marina.
No one was injured, the Coast Guard said.
