MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — The Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners declared April as Alcohol Awareness Month.

“We did this to encourage those struggling with alcohol use to seek out programs and resources that can help them,” said Commissioner Director Tom Arnone. “According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), each year there are more than 178,000 alcohol-related deaths in America. It is crucial that we continue to raise awareness and connect individuals with life-saving resources and services.”

“In 2020, the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners launched the Stigma-Free Monmouth website with the goal of reducing the stigmas associated with mental illness and substance use disorder,” said Commissioner Deputy Director Susan Kiley, liaison to the Department of Health and Human Services.
