Bomb Scare At Jersey Shore University Medical Center Saturday Night

NEPTUNE, NJ — There was a bomb scare late Saturday night at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, located in Neptune.

Someone called in the threat of a bomb early Sunday morning, said a spokeswoman for Hackensack Meridian Health, which owns JUMC.

Patients and hospital staff said they had to be evacuated, and the hospital was placed into lockdown.

"The safety of our patients and team members is always our top priority. When a potential threat was phoned in to Jersey Shore University Medical Center early Sunday morning, November 30, we immediately engaged our partners at the Neptune Police Department and secured the medical center with their assistance," said the Hackensack Meridian Health spokeswoman. "This action was taken out of an abundance of caution. We are incredibly grateful for their swift and thorough response, which allowed us to confirm the medical center was safe and resume normal operations quickly. This is a testament to our rigorous safety protocols and our strong partnership with local law enforcement, which together ensure our campus remains a safe place for care."

No arrests have been made. People have been calling bomb threats into hospitals across the state, with another bomb threat called into a hospital in Secaucus in mid-November.
