Eatontown Fire Department Wants To Make Home Addresses More Visible

Department is selling 911 reflective address signs

 

The Eatontown Fire Department wants to help makes residents' home addresses more visible to emergency responders and has begun selling reflective signs to help highlight them.

"With the reflective street address signs, Emergency Services will be able to quickly locate your residence or business when those seconds count," a flyer from the department states. "The signs can be seen from a long distance especially at night and during inclement weather."

Eatontown Fire Department Assistant Chief Joe Miller said "three-fourths of the homes in town do not have a visible address."

The signs have a white background measuring 5 inches high by 14 inches long with 4 inch blue reflective numbers. They can be one sided for house mounting or two sided for curbside mailboxes. They can be mounted horizontally or vertically depending on your preferred mounting location.

A one-sided sign costs $15 and a two-sided sign costs $18. Any residents who purchases a sign will have it delivered to their home or business by one of department's firefighters. The firefighter will also residents mount the sign at no extra cost.

To order signs, fill out an order form which can be found on the borough web site and mail a check or money order to: Eatontown Engine, Truck & Hose Co. 1, P.O. Box 943, Eatontown NJ 07724.

Miller said the order forms will also go out with the department's annual fund drive letters.
