Man Killed When His Car Flips, Overturns On Garden State Parkway

The crash backed up traffic for miles in both directions Sunday, as the SUV was headed south but flipped and landed in the northbound lanes.

MIDDLETOWN, NJ — A Roselle Park man was killed in a crash Sunday afternoon on the Garden State Parkway in Middletown.

The crash backed up traffic for miles in both directions on the Parkway north and southbound Sunday.

At 1:34 p.m. Sunday, Krzysztof Borys, 58, was driving a black Toyota 4Runner in the southbound express lanes when he veered off the roadway to the left and struck the guardrail. His SUV flipped over and landed in the northbound lanes of the Parkway, said State Police.

Borys was fatally injured in the crash. State Police are now asking for the public's help: Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about the events before, during and after the incident — including dash camera footage — is asked to contact the Troop “D” Holmdel Station Detective Bureau at 732-441-4500, ext. 7417.

The Middletown volunteer fire department, as well as other emergency crews, responded to the crash.
