Holiday Express Lights Up the Holidays at Lunch Break

Eatontown Nonprofit Readies for Public Shows at Red Bank Town Lighting & the Basie Center

Eatontown-based Holiday Express rolled into Red Bank on Saturday, Nov. 9 to celebrate the start of the holiday season with local kids and adults at Lunch Break, the nonprofit that provides meals and more to area residents in need.

The traveling troupe, led by local musician and restaurateur Tim McLoone, unpacked a morning of fun with live music, dancing elves, a parade of costumed characters, and a visit from Santa. Guests enjoyed breakfast donated by The Robinson Ale House.

“Our hearts are full,” said Gwen Love, executive director of Lunch Break. “Thank you so much for just bringing all this joy and love to our facility. We are never going to be the same again here at Lunch Break.”

The Lunch Break show was one of nearly 100 stops that Holiday Express will make through Christmas Eve, lifting the spirits of 27,000 children and adults in the tri-state region. Now in its 32nd season, the nonprofit has been delivering the “gift of human kindness” to soup kitchens, special needs schools, veteran homes, homeless shelters and other organizations that support those most in need.

Area residents are invited to catch Holiday Express at the annual Town Lighting on Friday, Nov. 29 in downtown Red Bank and at a benefit show on Dec. 17 at the Basie Center.
