Anthony Bowe, 44, of Ocean Township, is charged in both incidents and he is currently in custody after leading police on a car chase through Ocean and Wall Monday morning, said Wall Police.

Police say Bowe first robbed the cashier at knifepoint at 3 a.m. at the 7-Eleven on West Park Avenue, the Asbury Park Press reported. Then, he is accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz G63 from the parking lot of another 7-Eleven, this one located on Monmouth Road, the newspaper reported.

A BOLO "Be on the Lookout" was distributed to nearby towns with a description of the stolen car and suspect.

Wall Township Patrolman Orin McKay observed the stolen car parked in a local business parking lot at Rt. 138 and Allenwood Road, and a man matching Bowe’s description was seen outside the vehicle, said Wall Police on their Facebook page.

As McKay attempted to make contact, Bowe entered the car and drove off.

Wall Police initiated a pursuit, and chased the car eastbound on Rt. 138 and then northbound on Rt. 35 back into Ocean Township. The police chase ended at the intersection of Deal and Logan roads after Bowe crashed the stolen Mercedes. It was a minor crash, said police.

Ocean Twp. and Wall police took Bowe into custody without further incident. He was charged with armed robbery, car theft, resisting arrest, eluding, receiving stolen property, obstruction and multiple driving violations.

Following processing, Bowe was transported to a local hospital for evaluation, said Wall Police. He will be transferred to the Monmouth County Jail.
