Long Branch School Employees Donate $10,000 To Monmouth Medical Center

Funds will be used by Children's Hospital of Monmouth Medical Center

 

Wave of Hope, a non-profit organization made up of Long Branch School District teachers, has recently donated $10,000 to the Children's Hospital of Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch.

Brian Berry, President of Wave of Hope, said this is the second year the  organization has donated money to The Children’s Hospital. Last year the hospital used a $7,500 donation to purchase laptops, tablets and a special doll that is used to inform children of the type of procedure they will undergo.

Margaret Fisher, Chairwoman of the Pediatric Department at Monmouth Medical Center and the Director of The Children’s Hospital said she is excited about the partnership the Wave of Hope has established with the hospital.

“We have so many wish items,” Fisher said. “As a result of the generous donations by The Wave of Hope we will be able to take a few items off our wish list.”

The funds are are raised by the Wave of Hope's annual carnival and then used to help other organizations such as the Cancer Institute of New Jersey. Earlier this month, Wave of Hope donated $7,630 to the Cancer Institute of New Jersey and has donated over $200,000 to the organization over the years.
