Monmouth County Bands Plan Benefit Concert in Tinton Falls For Hurricane Victims

Mercer Avenue and Cross Town Train, two pop-punk/alternative bands from Monmouth County, announced an independently booked concert to raise money for local relief from Hurricane Sandy.

“We wanted to get involved and give back to the area where we grew up, both as people and as musicians,” said Dan Lisi, 21, a guitarist for Mercer Avenue.

The show will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12 at Northside Tinton Falls Firehouse on 35 Springdale Ave. in Tinton Falls.

Doors will open at 5 p.m. with a $10 entry, with  all proceeds going to support the efforts of Move For Hunger, a charity headquartered in Neptune.

The current announced acts include Mercer Avenue, Cross Town Train, Lovelectric, On Your Marks, and Suburban Cliché. All are bands based throughout Monmouth County.

The show will feature predominantly alternative and punk artists, but people of all ages are encouraged to help local acts support their home communities.

Mercer Avenue, comprised of five college seniors, was active from 2007-2011 and reunited to organize this concert.
